GALION — The Northmor Lady Knights opened their cross country season in style by taking first place in their own invitational Monday.
Northmor finished with 31 points to take first place over Fredericktown by six points. Kristen Duryea claimed the individual championship in 20:38.05. Jessica Duryea took third in 21:15.4 and Maddie Jordan was sixth in 21:55.5. Maria Lee placed seventh in 21:58.69 and Julianna Ditullio ran 15th in 22:59.05. Samantha Peters took 16th in 23:13.9 and Brooke Huntsman rounded out the top seven by running 22nd in 23:45.73.
Also, Brooke Bennett was 23rd, Samantha Grogg placed 32nd, Sabrina Kelly took 34th, Selena Cortez ran 51st, Carolyn McGaulley took 57th, Francesa Cutrupi was 76th, Vivienne Cutrupi ran 86th, Allyssa Pearce claimed 93rd and Tori Carver was 94th.
In the high school boys’ race, Fredericktown won with 48 points, while Northmor paced the locals by finishing third with 87.
James Walker led the Knights by running seventh in 18:23.51. Mostyn Evans was 18th in 19:17.72, while A.J. White took 19th in 19:20.21. B.J. White took 22nd in 19:38.88 and Kaleb Hart was 25th in 19:52.37. Manny Heilman took 27th in 19:56.42 and Ryan Bentley was 43rd in 20:48.75.
Also, Alec Moore was 61st, Kyle Price finished 66th, Calvin Komer took 75th, Kolton Hart was 96th, Austin Amens ran 103rd and Ethan Chapman finished 118th.
Highland was eighth in the race with Camberly Schade finishing 22nd in 14:57.19. Also, Mia White was 37th, Julia Pauley finished 46th, Faith Geiger took 48th, Joanna Pauley took 53rd and Heather Ross was 54th.
The Indian boys also won, scoring 59 points in taking first place. Brett Shipman led the team by running fourth in 12:19.38. Also, Kooper Keen was seventh, Colson Chapman took eighth, Eric Mowery was 16th, Michael Snopik finished 24th, Turner Fitzpatrick ran 30th, Mason Kidwell was 33rd, Tyler Knight was 46th and Phillip Emberg ran 78th.
Northmor was fourth in the race with P.J. Lower taking 11th in 12:47.72. Also, Carson Pletcher was 13th, Austin Lewis ran 21st, Griffin Workman placed 26th, Marcus Cortez was 34th, Jack Sears took 45th, T.J. Diehl placed 54th, Ethan Branch was 59th, Zach Govani ran 69th, Matthew Kearns placed 75th and Dillon Amens finished 77th.
