GALION — Galion’s golf team lost to Marion Pleasant on Thursday at Sycamore Creek. While competitive, Galion dropped a 186-176 decision.

Jack McElligott led the way for Galion, shooting a 42 on the day. Nick Kruger was just three strokes behind at 45. The remaining kept scores for the Tigers were Mitch Dyer (49) and Brevin Owens (50). The rest of the varsity scoring Thursday was Matt Kingseed shooting 50 and Kaleb Harsh with a 53.

“A difficult thing to accept is the fact that between my six varsity players, they had 23 double-bogeys. We cannot have those types of mental mistakes and expect to win,” coach Bryce Lehman said. “It’s disappointing, but I know they can bounce back … and we are going to need to.”

The Tigers are at River Valley on Tuesday, Jonathon Alder on Wednesday and match up with Marion Harding at home on Thursday.

Lehman remains positive.

“I hope we are ready for better things ahead and we put this loss behind us,” he said. “I have a ton of confidence in my team, but they have to go out and perform like I know they are capable of.”
