One huge inning was enough for Cardington when they hosted Northmor on Monday.

Northmor scored once in the second inning and added three runs in the third to jump out to a 4-0 lead. However, in the bottom of the fifth frame, the Pirates erupted for 11 runs and never looked back in eventually winning by an 11-7 margin.

Garrett Wagner struck out three and walked one to pick up the win for the Pirates. He scattered 13 hits in going the distance. Offensively, Devin Pearl tallied a triple and double, while Johnny Levings added two hits and Devin Fridley contributed a single.

Jake Farley suffered the loss for the Knights. He, Sam Eichorn and Gunnar Lilly combined to strike out 10, but walked six and gave up six hits. Northmor also committed five errors, which led to seven unearned runs. Lilly, Jordan Wiseman, Nate Hall, Tyler Kegley and Conan Becker all finished with two hits.

Highland Scots

Highland scored early and often on Monday in taking a 9-1 victory at Elgin.

The Scots scored three times in the first inning to take a 3-1 lead and then added two more in the second. They would then go on to pick up a pair of runs in both the sixth and seventh innings for some insurance as they picked up their 11th win of the season.

Max Schreiber improved to 5-0 after striking out 10 in six hitless innings. Mack Anglin added two more strikeouts in pitching the seventh.

Both Wyatt Gresh and Lane Ballard had a pair of hits, with Gresh tallying a two-run homer and Ballard cracking a double.
