Northmor grabs softball win; Highland drops Wednesday decision

Northmor was able to top Mount Gilead 10-0 on Wednesday in softball. After neither team scored in the first inning, the Knights took the lead with two in the second. They would then add five in the third and three more in the fourth on their way to the five-inning win.

Shelbey Lilly picked up the win for the Knights, striking out five and walking one. She gave up six hits. For the Indians, Mykayla Hill and Madison Fry combined to strike out five and walk five, while surrendering eight hits. Hill was the pitcher of record.

The Knights got two hits each from Lydia Farley, Karlee Carroll and Lily Tate. Maddie Bell had two hits for the Indians, while both Kendra Howard and MaKayla Lupton added doubles.

Highland Scots

East Knox broke open a tie game with an offensive onslaught in topping Highland’s softball team by a 16-2 margin.

The Bulldogs scored twice in the second inning, but Highland bounced back with two in the third to knot the score. However, EK picked up six in the fourth inning, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and six more in the final frame to jump out to a big win.

Lucy Smith and Abby O’Bryant combined to strike out two and walk seven. East Knox batters also tallied 18 hits to Highland’s five.
