Looking forward to this year

I’m excited about the start of 2016.

This week marks the first time in months that The Galion Inquirer has been fully staffed.

But my enthusiasm isn’t limited to the thought that we have people.

It’s who we were able to bring aboard.

It started when Brandon Klein joined us several months ago.

Klein came to us with experience on the news and business desks at The Vindicator in Youngstown.

And he quickly showed his versatility by quickly learning the sports beat and helping with Galion news coverage. He has also managed a team of freelancers to assist with our sports coverage.

In addition, Klein has showed his skill in business reporting by breaking news about a new hotel in Galion and the future of Varsity Grille.

We’re excited about the skillset Brandon brings to us.

You can reach him at 419-468-1117, ext. 2048 or on Twitter at @brandoneklein.

This week also marks the full-time addition of Kimberly Gasuras to our team.

She is a lifelong Crawford County resident who you may have recognized in her work with Gannett newspapers in Bucyrus and Mansfield.

Gasuras came to us as a freelancer about nine months ago and will cover Galion, Bucyrus, county government and the courts.

You can reach her at 419-468-1117, ext. 2049 or on Twitter at @kimberlygasuras.

Both team members are strong reporters who combine toughness and fairness to serve you – the reader.

We’re excited to see what 2016 holds.

IN THE COMMUNITY – We’re always on the hunt for your pictures of things happening around Galion and Crawford County. We’re looking to run more community news and sports photos in 2016. Send your news photos and a short description of what’s happening in them to [email protected] and community sports photos to [email protected].

BIRTHS AND MARRIAGES – Get married?

Have a baby?

Wanted to remind you that we run short birth and wedding announcements in our paper for free. Send your submissions to [email protected].

HOW TO REACH ME – Have a concern, thought or idea for the paper?

I’m interested.

Feel free to call me at 419-468-1117 ext. 2050 or by email at [email protected].
