Letter: Why steal an urn from cemetery

0

With a very sad and heavy heart, I just found out that the heavy stone urn that has graced my grandparents’ graves has been stolen from Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline.

It has to be at least 100 years old.

A bottom pedestal with an octagon-shaped top, it was at least 30-some inches in diameter.

Within the last week, there is a new grave very close to where my grandparents’ graves and urn were.

No amount of money can replace the memories and the time spent planting flowers for each Memorial Day.

The theft has been reported to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

If you have any idea who would have taken the urn, we would very much like it returned.

Why in God’s name would someone steal the urn?

Janet Buchanan, granddaughter of August and Emma Kress
