Howard Cole to perform spring concert with Heidelberg University Symphonic Band
TIFFIN — Howard Cole of Galion, Ohio, and members of Heidelberg University’s Symphonic Band performed for their spring concert, the Aussie-themed “We Come from a Land Down Under” on Saturday, April 26.
Howard, a sophomore majoring in music and business administation, plays the percussion in the 43-band, whose members are selected by audition. The band plays campus concerts, festival, convention and tour concerts. Its repertoire is chosen from standard and contemporary band literature, utilizing various instrumental combinations. The director is Dr. John E. Owen, professor of trumpet, director of Heidelberg School of Music & Theatre and director of bands.
Founded in 1850, Heidelberg offers 30 majors, 29 minors and 10 pre-professional programs, awarding the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music degrees, as well as master’s degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music. Area Residents Will Receive Degrees at Ashland University Spring Commencement

Carolyn J. Stefanik of Galion, OH, will receive their Master of Businesss Administration degree with a major in Executive Management.
Stefanie Thaís Oliveira Stoops of Crestline, OH, will receive their Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Spanish and French. She is the daughter of Denisia Stoops of Mansfield. Stoops is graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors.
Mitchell P. Ramsey of Bucyrus, OH, will receive their Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Environmental Science and Geology. He is the son of Steven and Renee Ramsey of Bucyrus. Ramsey is a 2010 graduate of Bucyrus High School. Ramsey is graduating with Cum Laude honors.
Katilyn Nicole Wareham of Galion, OH, will receive their Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Exercise Science. Wareham is a 2010 graduate of Galion High School.

Heidelberg students honored for academic, leadership achievements
TIFFIN — About 60 Heidelberg University students were honored for their achievements in the classroom and in the community April 25 during the annual Student Awards Celebration. During the celebration, the students also presented the Faculty Member of the Year Award to Dr. Kenneth Baker, professor of biology. Among the local/area students who received an award are:
