The Board of Directors of the Council for Older Adults is seeking interested candidates to serve on the organization’s governing board beginning in 2015.
COA helps older people in Delaware County live safely in their own homes and stay healthy as they age. The local non-profit organization is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and providing services for older adults, their families and caregivers.
COAs volunteer board of directors is responsible for planning, policy development, resource development, financial oversight, evaluating the performance of the executive director and ensuring that the organization is addressing its mission of service to the older population of Delaware County.
The board of directors meets no less than 10 times annually, and board members are also expected to actively participate on at least one board committee and volunteer at various annual special events. The board typically meets at noon on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
The board is seeking a diverse mix of community members and it is not required that board members be an older adult to serve. Those interested in serving and providing board leadership for a dynamic nonprofit organization which serves a rapidly growing local older population should request an application by contacting the Council or visiting the Council’s website at growingolder.org.

The Council for Older Adults is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that helps older people in Delaware County live safely in their own homes and stay healthy as they age. Programs and services provided by the Council are supported in part by the local senior services levy, corporate and private donations, sponsorships, and grants.
