LIMA — Breast cancer survivors can enjoy a day of pampering Thursday at the Ohio State Beauty Academy to take their minds off the stresses of the disease.
The event, “Surviving Cancer Beautifully” will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Up to 75 women will be served with an array of free spa services ranging from manicures, pedicures, mini-facials and hair conditioning, Jennifer Mills, the spokeswoman for the event, said in a written statement.
Academy students will serve the survivors who must reserve a spot because of a limited amount of spaces for people. To make a reservation, call the academy at 419-549-8075. The beauty academy is at 1760 N. Eastown Road.
Look Good, Feel Better staff also will be on hand with makeup lessons and wig fittings.
The beauty academy, Burton's Ridge, Shawnee Manor, Lima Manor, Wapakoneta Manor and Roselawn Manor are teaming up for the event.
In Allen, Hardin, Hancock, Putnam, Auglaize, Mercer and Van Wert counties nearly 300 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
