Steve Baldinger, a 1993 graduate of Galion High School, has served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. He achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant on March 27.
Baldinger was recently awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for performing meritorious service from a period of June 24, 2012 - June 20, 2014.
A letter from Colonel David L. Almand, 89th Airlift Wing Commander, gives high praise for Baldinger’s work:
“Chief Master Sergeant Steven M. Baldinger distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service to the United States as Squadron Superintendent, 89th Operations Support Squadron, 89th Operations Groups, 89th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.
“During this period, Chief Baldinger’s tireless leadership, professional skill, and ceaseless efforts directly contributed to the success of the 89th Airlift Wing’s global Executive Airlift mission.
“Under his leadership, the squadron provided flawless operational support to 21 Joint Base Andrews flying units and five National Capital Region alert missions while fostering a professional work environment. Furthermore, he directly contributed to the squadron’s Airfield Management Operations Flight earning an “Excellent” rating during the 2013 Air Mobility Command compliance inspection.
“Finally, Chief Baldinger leveraged his experience to chair the squadron’s leadership development program culminating in one Stripes For Exceptional Performer’s selection, three Air Mobility Command annual award winners, and 30 wing and group award winners, positively impacting every Airman in the unit. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Chief Baldinger reflect credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. Given under my hand 8, July 2014.”
Baldinger is currently stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.
