After 47 years of life together, Tom and Charlene Foreman finally had the wedding ceremony they’ve always wanted. The couple renewed their vows on July 12 in a beautiful, outdoor ceremony surrounded by pine trees. Their son, Tom, walked the bride down the aisle. Other family members and some close friends were in attendance.
“This man has made me his whole life,” a tearful Charlene said after the ceremony. She explained that when she and Tom were young, they were married by a Justice of the Peace in Fort Wayne, Ind. Four kids later, they never had time for a full ceremony.
The Foremans live at Signature Healthcare of Galion, located at 935 Rosewood Drive. When Activities Director Candy Yokum found out they never had a real ceremony, she decided to change that. “I felt like they deserved this. We try to do special things for our residents because living here is a continuation of life,” she commented.
The couple was going to wait until their 50th anniversary to renew their vows, but when the Signature Healthcare staff offered to help it was an offer too good to pass up. Many staff members donated decorations and Geyer’s donated a cake.
