Michaela Slone of Galion is among three groups of Heidelberg University students who completed service learning projects during spring break in March, serving such organizations at Habitat for Humanity, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Cleveland and La Posada Providencia , an emergency shelter for those who are seeking asylum in the U.S., in San Benito, Texas.

Slone, a freshman majoring in Health Sciences, completed a service project at San Benito, Texas. Earlier this year, an additional group traveled to Nicaragua as part of Heidelberg’s Alternative Spring Break program. A fifth group will head to Biloxi, Miss., for a service project in mid-May.
