Housing sales in Crawford County improve

Year-to-year housing sales in the Crawford County area improved in February, while some school district area’s sales increased or remained the same.

There were 33 homes sold last month compared with 21 homes in January 2015, according to data provided by the Mansfield Association of Realtors. The total dollar volume in the area increased by more than 33 percent to $720,223 in January 2016.

The Galion and Wynford school districts saw home sales jump from last year, while four other districts in the county had minor increases or remain the same including the Northmor Local School District, which is based in Morrow County.

In Galion, there were 12 homes sold last month compared with 9 in February 2015. Total dollar volume increased by nearly three-fourths to $88,130 last month. The average price for homes was $85,458 in February compared with $46,501 in February 2015. Homes were on the market for a shorter period of time at an average of 99 days – a decrease of 84 days.

In Wynford, there were five homes sold last month, while none were sold in February 2015. The total dollar volume was $87,120 with the average price at $79,600. Homes were on the market for 115 days.

There was one home sold in Buckeye Central with total dollar volume at $49,900 in February, while there no home sales during the same month in 2015. Homes were on the market for an average of 153 days.

Crestline jumped to three homes sold last month compared with two in February 2015. The total dollar volume was $31,300 in February with the average price at $31,633 compared with the total dollar volume at $122,400 in February 2015 with the average price at $112,000. The average days for homes to be on the market spiked by three to 98.

There were seven homes sold again in Bucyrus last month compared to February 2015. But the total dollar volume dropped to $40,129 in February compared with $66,129 in February 2015. The average price declined to $37,536 last month compared with $59,686 in February 2015. Homes were on the market for an average of 278 days in February compared with 101 days for the same month in 2015.

Like Bucyrus, there were no changes in home sales for Colonel Crawford with just one home sold. But the total dollar volume declined to $222,000 last month from $249,900 in February 2015. The average price for homes also dropped to $215,000 in February from $226,000 in February 2015. Homes were on the market much shorter in February at 92 days last month compared with 420 days in February 2015.

For Northmor, there were four homes sold last month compared with two in February 2015. The total dollar volume jumped to $201,644 in February from $51,850 of the same month in 2015. The year-to-year average price also increased to $194,944 in February compared with $48,250. Homes were on the market longer at an average of 146 days compared with 58 days.
