January auto sales improved year-to-year for Crawford and Morrow counties.
A total of 195 new and used were sold in January – up from 173 sales last year, according to data provided by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The information is compiled from titles processed at county title departments by the final business day each month.
New vehicle sales increased to 24 compared with 18 sales in January 2015. There were 171 used vehicles sold in January compared with 155 the same month of the previous year.
The leading dealer of Crawford and Morrow counties in January was Mathews Chevrolet Buick of Bucyrus. The dealership’s sales spiked in January with 45 new and used vehicles compared with 19 sales in January 2015 when the dealership – then known as Haydocy Chevrolet Cadillac Buick – was bought by Marion 309 LLC during that month.
The next two leading dealerships were Craig Smith Auto Group of Galion and Ohio Specialty Services LLC, which each sold 12 new and used vehicles.
Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge continued to be the leading makes for new and used vehicles in January. There were 67 Chevrolet makes sold in January, while there were 36 Ford makes sold and 19 makes for Dodge.
A total of 149 new and used vehicles were sold for January in Crawford County, while there were 46 vehicles sold in Morrow County.
