The Galion Cemetery Association held its monthly meeting recently at their office adjacent to Fairview Cemetery north of Galion. Jeff Campbell, president, welcomed board members Craig Alguire, Marsha Cheesman, Jerry Lantz, Robert Schwabe, Marge Sherron, Mary Ann Stone, and Cemetery Superintendent and Manager Shane Shipley. Larry Kocher was unable to attend. Karen Sipes serves as Administrative Assistant.

Topics of discussion for the evening included issues and resolutions relating to grounds and road maintenance of the cemetery, mausoleum care, finance and budgets, and rules and regulations of the property.

Fairview Cemetery is managed and maintained solely by the Galion Cemetery Association, a non-profit organization and is governed by a Board of Trustees compiled of local business leaders and local residents. It is not supported financially by a city or township, or any tax base. The mission of Fairview Cemetery is “to honor and maintain the historic grounds while providing a picturesque setting for loved ones and visitors.” Further information is available at 419-468-5390 and www.fairviewcemeterygalion.org.
