The Galion High School guidance department will be hosting a Financial Aid meeting and workshop Saturday, Jan. 23. The event will be held at the High School and will begin promptly at 9 a.m. The event is free and open to college-bound seniors and their parents.

Matt Moreau, Director of Financial Aid at The Ohio State University-Marion, will explain the process and procedure for filing for financial aid and for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). He will also address questions/concerns about financial aid and provide resources available for assistance.

A new component of this year’s meeting includes trained financial aid administrators on-site to help students and parents complete the FAFSA. Students will receive a list of information they and their parents need to bring with them to complete the FAFSA. The list can also be found on the High School Guidance department website at www.galionschools.org. Once on the site, navigate to “Galion High School”, select “Guidance” and click the “College Center” link.

“This is something extra added this year for students and parents who might be apprehensive about this very important component of the college application process,” Senior Guidance Counselor Tena Eyster said. “Even if people do not have tax information yet, they can file by estimating or by using last year’s information and then updating once they receive current tax information.”
