Galion High School Performing Arts to present one-act plays

The Galion High School Performing Arts department will present two one-act plays at the Galion Community Theatre Dec. 11, 12 and 13.

Act I, “The Real Housewives of Cricket Co.”, is a hilarious hillbilly romp into good natured fun, involving a newly moved to the area big city couple, a quilting bee and a older bottle of Muscadine juice (truth serum). Act II, “A Christmas Memory”, is a lovely look at grandma’s trip down memory lane that includes Christmas stories and music and a ballet on pointe to the Sugarplum Fairy.

“This show is a terrific blend of a comedy and Christmas show,” GHS teacher and director Cheri Laughbaum said. “All shows at Galion High School are run by students. Actors, lighting, sound, backstage, and the assistant directors are all current high school students, and they all have worked hard to prepare for this performance.”

Show times are 7 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12, and 2:00 p.m. Dec. 13. Tickets are $6 each and can purchased at the theatre prior to each performance. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12, and reopen at 1:15 p.m. for the show Dec. 13.

“I am proud of Mrs. Laughbaum and the high school students involved in this production,” Superintendent Jim Grubbs said. “Our Performing Arts Department does an outstanding job preparing our students for their performances. I know this show will be another quality event.”
