The American Legion, Scarbrough, Post 243 Galion is asking local businesses to donate money for the holidays for veterans who are in the hospital.

“We are looking for donations to help buy Christmas gifts for veterans in the hospital in Sandusky,” American Legion Adjutant Don Rinehart said. “We have a program that is statewide called Gift for Yanks where we collect money and the money goes for gifts for the veterans during the holidays.”

Last year, the American Legion statewide program collected about $264,000 dollars to this project.

“This year we will be going to the Sandusky hospital on Dec. 17,” Rinehart said. “We will be handing out presents to the veterans. It means a lot to them, it let’s them know they aren’t forgotten and they are appreciated.”

To donate to this the Gift for Yanks program contact the American Legion, Scarbrough, Post 243 at 419-468-1208 or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/LegionPost243?fref=ts.
