Fire destroys Troy Township home

Firefighters from Troy Township work to put out a Tuesday morning fire that destroyed a house located on Township Road 50 in Troy Township. The fire was reported by resident Leegenya Evatt, 21, who was home alone during the incident. She heard a loud pop in her bedroom wall. “It was instantly hot, I ran downstairs to turn off electric and when I came back upstairs the room was already engulfed in flames. I hit the fire alarm and dialed 911.” Evatt is one of four family members who live in the home. There were no injuries reported.

Firefighters from Troy Township, Johnsville, Mount Gilead and Iberia were dispatched to the fire.
