Galion golfers still undefeated after match at Whetstone

CALEDONIA — The Galion Tigers golf squad loaded up and headed to Whetstone Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon to meet up with league foe River Valley.

Galion continued its Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference dominance with a 155-190 win to move to 8-0 in league competition. The Tigers are the only undefeated team in the conference.

Mitch Dyer and Matthew McMullen led the way for the visiting Tigers with 37s. Right behind Dyer and McMullen was freshman Spencer Keller, firing a 38. Jack McElligott rounded out the Galion scoring with a 43 against River Valley. Matt Kingseed finished with a 47 and Kaleb Harsh with a 54.

“We played really well tonight. We had three really good scores that came from three guys playing really well right now. any time we can shoot a 155 we will be hard to beat,” said Galion head coach Bryce Lehman. “Our undefeated start to the season is awesome. My guys have worked hard to get to this point. The MOAC season is a little over halfway through and there are some tough road trips coming up…we need to stay focused,” Lehman concluded.

In the junior varsity match, Galion won Valley 198-227.

Bronson Dalenberg shot a 45 to lead the way for the Tigers. Alec Dicus turned in a 50, Aaron Stewart a 51 and David Harper a 52 to finish up the Galion jayvee scoring. Jacob Lear shot a 54 and Tyler Kruger a 58 on the day for the Tigers as well.

On Thursday, the Tigers are on the road against league foe North Union.
