Lady Tigers’ tennis team stays ahead of the weather

GALION — After an impressive win at Pleasant on Monday, the Galion Lady Tigers tennis team played host to the Madison Lady Rams at Heise Park on Tuesday.

Although the rains came, Galion was able to earn the victory by a tally of 4-0. With the non-conference victory, the Lady Tigers improved to 6-0 on the season and remain at 4-0 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference.

The singles players for Galion all made quick work of their Madison opponents on Tuesday.

Kayley Gimbel at first singles, Katherine Talbott at second singles and Jalyn Oswald at third singles all were victorious in straight sets; 6-0, 6-0.

In first doubles action, Kiersten Gifford and Danielle Schneider came out on top; 6-1, 6-4. The second doubles tandem of Elli Chandler and Katie Baughn won their first set by a score of 6-1 and were leading in the second set 1-0 before the rains came and the match was cancelled.

Galion will be back in conference play on Thursday, August 31 when they travel to Ontario to meet up with the Lady Warriors.
