LEXINGTON — The NASCAR Xfinity Series returns to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Friday for two days of action-packed, family-friendly fun on and off the track. The Aug.11-12 Mid-Ohio Challenge is the race course season finale.

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course has teamed up with NASCAR Acceleration Nation to enhance the Mid-Ohio Challenge experience for kids. In addition to children 12 and under given free admission when accompanied by a ticketed adult, kids can sign up for the chance at interactive opportunities like autograph sessions, high five lines during driver meetings and pre-race ceremonies, on-stage speaking opportunities, garage tours, Kids vs. Driver challenges and photo opportunities. All these activities are in partnership with #KidsDriveNASCAR. Kids can still be signed up for a chance to participate in one of these opportunities at bit.ly/kidsdriveNASCAR, and follow the event on social media throughout the weekend for more activities to be added.

Also, 2017 Mid-Ohio VIP Race Pass holders will get unprecedented access to the NASCAR Xfinity Series garage area Saturday morning. Previously, access to this area has been closed. These season pass-holders are asked to wear closed-toe shoes to enter the garage area. The Trans Am and F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda paddocks remain open to all race fans.

Autograph sessions with all three series racing on track this weekend will be available. On Friday, from noon to 1 p.m., Trans Am Championship will host an “open house” style an autograph session where fans can move about the paddock and meet the drivers. Fans should stop by the Trans Am Central tent to pick up a poster for signing. From 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda drivers will be lined up in their paddock ready to sign autographs. On Saturday morning, some of the rising stars of the NASCAR Xfinity Series will be available from 10-10:45 a.m. for an autograph session at the tenton the bluff west of the garages. Fans are encouraged to line up early.
