Sacred Heart Festival is July 23

SHELBY — Sacred Heart School’s 124th annual festival will be Sunday, July 23. The festival is held on the parish grounds, at 5742 Ohio 61 between Crestline and Shelby. This family-oriented festival runs from 11 am. to 10 .m.

Join the fun and be a part of more than a century of tradition. The highlight of the festival is the half-chicken (barbecued on the parish grounds) or ham dinners. They include homemade dressing, pies, or cake. The big meal includes mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, roll and butter, pickled eggs and beets, choice of applesauce or coleslaw, choice of coffee, iced tea, milk, chocolate milk, or lemonade is included in the $9 adult meal. A small meal of a quarter of a chicken with all the trimmings is $7.

An air-conditioned dining hall is available for those who wish to escape from the summer heat. A grill service and concessions will be available throughout the day.

Once everyone is well fed, families can head out of the parish hall to the kids’ tent (6 p.m.) for games to challenge children of all ages. Parents and grandparents can pick up garden produce and home-baked treats. Another popular attraction is the antique farm machinery on display, or adults may choose to sit a spell and play instant bingo.

The MEGA raffle includes a hot air balloon ride, Indians and Browns tickets and more. There are also hourly drawings, 50/50 drawings, and a reverse raffle with a $1,500 top winner. The 5K run/walk starts at 6 p.m. Registration is $15 before July 18, $20 the day of the race. Mail registrations to 5358 Beam Road, Crestline, OH 44827.
