Galion mayor hospitalized after emergency surgery

This news release was just issued by the City of Galion:

GALION — Galion Mayor Tom O’Leary suffered an abdominal aortic aneurysm on May 3. He was life-flighted to Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus where emergency surgery was performed. He is in critical, but stable, condition in the intensive care unit.

An abdominal aortic aneurysm is an enlarged area in the lower part of the aorta, the major blood vessel that supplies blood to the body which runs from the heart to the abdomen.

 Updates on Mayor O’Leary’s condition will be released as they become available. Please keep him and the O’Leary family in your thoughts and prayers.

 “I wish Tom a speedy recovery. Everyone at the city is keeping him and the family in mind. City operations will continue as normal,” said Galion City Council President Carl Watt.
