Tigers shut out Spartans to open MOAC tennis play

GALION — The Galion tennis team opened Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference play on Tuesday afternoon with a victory against the Pleasant Spartans, 5-0.

Galion would not lose more than two games in each set during action against Pleasant.

Tanner Amos got things started in first singles play, winning by a final of 6-1, 6-2. At second singles, Lucas Conner would also have no issues picking up the win, 6-2, 6-2. Landon Rose finished with the largest margin of victory in singles play, defeating his opponent; 6-0, 6-1.

First doubles duo of Nic Oehler and Matt Sparks remain undefeated at 3-0 on the season after winning their contest by a final of 6-1, 6-1. Tyler Harris and Max Papenhausen scored the fifth point for the Tigers, defeating their second doubles competition; 6-0, 6-1.

The Tigers improve to 2-1 on the year and 1-0 in the MOAC.

League play will continue for Galion on Thursday when they host the Buckeye Valley Barons. A makeup match with Lima Central Catholic will take place at Heise Park on Friday April 8.
