GALION — The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) held its annual Central Region Spring Conference in Columbus on March 6. A member of the Galion school board and Galion Primary School were both recognized for outstanding achievements during the event.

Dennis Long, a member of the Board of Education, was recognized for 10 years of service to the school district and the Galion community.

“Mr. Long is a tremendous asset to our Board of Education, the district’s administrative staff and the Galion community,” said Superintendent Jim Grubbs. “I appreciate his dedication to advancing the educational environment for Galion students and staff, and look forward to working with him for many years to come.”

Galion Primary School received a plaque from the OSBA for being named one of the first-ever “All-A Award” schools by the Ohio Department of Education and the State Board of Education. The Primary School received the award by earning straight A’s on all its applicable report card measures.

“This award is a shining example of the work our teachers do every single day to help our students at the Primary School reach their maximum education potential,” said Primary School Principal Cindy Voss. “It’s an honor to work with such a dedicated group of individuals who give selflessly to help our youngest Tigers achieve success.”
