DELAWARE — Galion’s boys basketball team opened the season with a road victory in Bucyrus against the Redmen. Since then, the Tigers have found themselves on a losing skid. That skid has now reached four games after dropping a Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division matchup to the Buckeye Valley Barons on Friday, 68-48.

See more photos from the game, and some photos from a large contingent of fans who made there way to the game, too, in our online gallery. Those fans and Galion’s cheerleaders  wanted to show some extra school spirit vs. the Barons.

Galion is now 1-4 on the season and winless in two conference games. With the victory over Galion, Buckeye Valley picks up its first win of the season (1-3 overall) and now sits at 1-1 in the MOAC Red.

The Tigers found themselves trailing after the first quarter by a score of 20-12 and they never could catch up. Buckeye Valley added an 18 point second quarter to Galion’s nine and took a halftime lead of 38-21. Galion would come out to outscore the Barons in the third, 17-10 but would allow 20 points in the final period to put the game into unreachable territory.

Buckeye Valley would have three players score 12 points or more against the Tigers on Friday night.

Isaiah Alsip was atop the scoring list for the Tigers. Alsip scored 19 points against the Barons on six-two pointers and two-threes. He would also grab six of Galion’s 27 total rebounds. Bobby Gilbert nearly recorded a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down nine rebounds.

An inner-Galion matchup awaits the Tigers next as they travel to Northmor High School on Tuesday Dec.20 to clash with the Golden Knights in non-league play. On Thursday Dec.22, Galion will host MOAC Red Division foe, the River Valley Vikings.
