Financial aid workshop for college students coming up

Staff report

BUCYRUS —The Crawford College Connection will offer a free FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion workshop on Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Bucyrus Public Library. Registration is required, and half hour appointments are available from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Parents can schedule an appointment by calling the library at (419) 562-7327.

“We bring in college financial aid professionals from Ohio State, Ashland, Heidelberg, and Marion Tech,” said Margaret Thornton, director of Crawford College Connection. “This is the seventeenth year for this event and the only FAFSA help session that Crawford College Connection will offer this year.”

The FAFSA is based on 2015 tax returns. Parents are encouraged to get an FSA ID by going to https://fsaid.ed.gov. One parent and the student need an FSA ID. Because of early deadlines this year, it is important that parents complete the FAFSA early to maximize a student’s chance to receive need-based aid.
