One more headed to prison after Galion drug bust

BUCYRUS — A Waverly man was sentenced to prison time for his role in a drug-related case in Galion.

Matthew J. Alley, 31, Waverly, was sentenced to six years in prison on two counts, to be served concurrently, after pleading guilty to the illegal manufacture of drugs, a first-degree felony, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

Alley was arraigned in August along with his co-defendants, Natasha R. Dent, 22, and Joseph F. Murphy, 31, both of 420 Jackson Road, Galion.

Dent’s case is scheduled for a jury trial in December. Murphy was sentenced to four years in prison earlier this month.

Alley must also pay a $10,000 fine and his driver’s license is suspended for six months.

A 31-year-old Stow woman pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, possession of drug abuse instruments, and three counts of driving under suspension.

Leona Hoopingarner was sentenced to 10 months in prison on the charges. She was arrested by Galion Police on June 19 for driving under suspension, possession of heroin and operating under FRA suspension at Ohio 598 and Freese Works Plaza.

A Bucyrus man will do time in prison after pleading guilty to drug-related offenses last week in Crawford County Common Pleas Court.

Jeremy L. Lewis, 41, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and failure to comply, a third-degree felony, and was sentenced to one year in prison on the first charge and 18 months on the second charge.

David A. Franklin, 45, Bucyrus, is also heading to prison after admitting to several violations of the terms of his probation.

Franklin was placed on community control in 2013 for a possession of drugs conviction. Among his infractions was a positive drug test. He was sentenced to eight months in prison by Judge Sean Leuthold.
