GALION — The Galion Tigers are on the road tonight as Week 2 of the local high school football season begins.

Galion had a pretty easy time of it in last week’s 49-7 win over Bucyrus at Heise Park.

The Tigers’ opponent this week is Cardington, also 1-0 on the year. The Pirates had little trouble with their first week opponent, thrashing Worthington Christian 49-13.

Galion’s defense will be tested this week as the Pirates has plenty of firepower on offense, led by senior quarterback Luke McCarrell, who threw for over 2,000 yards as a junior and an all-Ohio receiver in Devin Pearl.

The Tigers unveiled a potent running attack vs. Bucyrus, racking up 296 yards on the ground in 31 attempts. Caleb Ivy led the way for the Tigers, picking up 118 yards on just 2 carries and two touchdowns. Ryan Talbott also added on 2 TDs on 80 yards and Chase Cooke had a touchdown and 49 yards rushing.

In other local action tonight Clyde visits Colonel Crawford, Crestline plays host to Grove City Christian and Worthington Christian comes to Northmor.
