CRESTLINE — The Crawford Park District will have a general open house on Thursday, Aug.25, to celebrate the 100th birthday of the National Park Service.

In 1916, Congress created the National Park Service, “To conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and…leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations.”

Visit to the Nature Center at Lowe-Volk Park on Aug. 25 between 1-3 p.m. to eat a piece of birthday cake and to meet with like-minded people who value the precepts of the National Parks and the many local parks that followed in their footsteps.

There will be an optional guided hike in Lowe-Volk Park at 2 p.m.

Lowe-Volk Park is three miles north of US 30. For information, call 419-683-9000, go to www.crawfordparkdistrict.org or visit the Park District’s Facebook page.
