Galion Health Department offering extra immunization clinics

GALION — The Galion City Health Department will hold three additional immunization clinics in August in order to give students going into 7th and 12th grades more opportunities to get meningococcal (meningitis) and Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) vaccines.

These clinics will be held, by appointment only, on the following dates:

Thursday, Aug. 11, from 9-11 a.m., and 1-3 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 18, from 9-11 a.m., and 1-3 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 29, from 3-6 p.m.

The clinics are in addition to the regularly scheduled monthly clinics, which are also by appointment only, on the following dates:

Monday, Aug. 8, from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 15, from 3-6 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 22, from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.

Parents or guardians must accompany their student for consent, insurance and payment information, and in the event of a reaction or emergency.

Students entering the seventh grade have been required to have a Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis), and are now also required to have a meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine. Students entering the 12th grade are now being required to have a meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine.

Please call the Galion City Health Department at 419-468-1075 and have insurance information ready in order to schedule an appointment or to have questions answered. It is also encouraged to go to the GCHD website, www.galionhealth.org, download the “Screening Form” and fill it out in advance to expedite the appointment.
