Elementary school children from low-income families can get free school supplies, play games for prizes and visit an Info Fair with parents at the 8th annual Back-To-School Supply Carnival and Information Fair from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Bucyrus United Methodist Church’s Outreach Center, 216 Hopley Ave., Bucyrus.

Free basic supplies from local schools’ classroom lists are provided to financially struggling families with home-schooled, parochial and public school children in kindergarten through elementary grades residing in Bucyrus, Wynford and Col. Crawford school districts. All children are welcome to the carnival; however, they must be accompanied by an adult to receive their free supplies.

Parents can also get free school clothing for their children from God’s Open Clothing Closet, inside the Outreach Center. The Gideons are passing out Bibles to the elementary children who wish to receive them.

People of all ages can enjoy the carnival, which features free games, prizes, refreshments, face painting, music by Sonix Sounds DJ Services, and a Dunk Tank. On display for children to check out are a Bucyrus City School bus, Sheriff’s cruiser, Bucyrus City Police car, fire engine and an ambulance.

The Info Fair features over 30 organizations and agencies with information and goodies to share with the families. Area businesses are also invited to market their products with giveaways and coupons.

Carnival activities will be in the parking lot and on the lawn of the Outreach Center. In the event of rain, they will move inside. Guests are asked to park in the Bucyrus Elementary School parking lot. Handicap parking is available at the southern edge of the church parking lot. The Outreach Center is located at the point of Hopley, Walnut and Woodlawn avenues.

The carnival is sponsored by the Church’s Outreach Team and staffed by volunteers from the Church and community at large. For more information, call the Church office at 419-562-5061
