Leesville Grange #2078 met at the home of Tom and Priscilla Laughbaum on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 7:00 PM. Master/President Donald Graf presided over the meeting. Chaplain Dorothy Eckert offered prayer followed by pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

The Legislative report was February fly-in to New Hampshire by Grange youth to experience political activity. Round table discussion about Rover pipeline and CAUV re-evaluation of farmland.

The Family Activities Chairperson reported on activities from Spring Fling. The results of the State Baking contests were chocolate date cake won by Barb Van Scoit and butterscotch scotchies cookies won by June Slabach and Barb Van Scoit got second. Winners will be taken to the Deputies Conference. Thanked those who brought eye glasses.

The Deaf Activities Chairman read about hearing test and what results may be from the test. Thanked all who brought pop tabs and Campbell Soup bar codes.

Community Service Chairman talked about a donation to be taken for Filling Home of Mercy at next meeting. Thanking all who brought white tube socks for Harley Barker to take on mission trip to inner city of Cincinnati and pass out to homeless. Project called Matthew 25: Ministries in Cincinnati, Ohio accepting donations of clean empty plastic pill bottles to be used for providing a way to distribute medicines in a sterile container introduced by Ohio State Grange Community Services Director Kevin Evans.

Leesville Grange will sponsor trophies for Champion Beef Showmanship and Champion Ram Overall. Crawford County Pomona Grange will sponsor trophies for Champion Intermediate Goat Showmanship and Best Senior Speech at Crawford County Junior Fair.

Deputy Dorothy Eckert reported on the Lecturer’s/Community Service Conference.

Lecturer’s Program theme was “National Garden Month-Planting a snackable vegetable garden. Fun for the whole family”.

The next regular Leesville Grange/Crawford County Pomona Grange meeting will be held at the Jefferson Twp. Fire Department on Tuesday, June 7 at 7:00 PM. There will be a memorial service, Grange inspection and Grange booth planning. Lunch will be icy cold root beer floats.
