Funding through the Community Development Block Grant program is still available for rental home repair projects in Galion. The Ohio Regional Development Corporation is asking any interested Galion landlords to apply by July 31, 2016.

The grant provides limited assistance to rental properties in order to correct specific problems that adversely affect occupant health and safety and/or structural integrity. Repair work can include connecting a plumbing system to a public water supply and/or public sewage system, installing a new roof, replacing a furnace or hot water tank, or installing an accessibility ramp. Work must be completed by Oct. 31, 2016.

$33,636 of CDBG funding remains available. Landlords are required to contribute 50% of the rehab cost. So far, $11,364 has been spent or committed for this funding cycle that will benefit six Galion homes.

Eligible homes must be occupied by a tenant that meets low income guidelines:

One tenant – maximum of $31,200 per year

Two tenants – maximum of $35,650 per year

Three tenants – maximum of $40,100 per year

Four tenants – maximum of $44,550 per year
