BUCYRUS — Bratwurst Festival officials made the deicsion today to cancel the 2020 Bratwurst, based on health and safety concerns with COVID-19.

This letter was posted today on the Bratwurst Festival Facebook page and online at www.bucyrusbratwurstfestival.com.

Dear Friends:

When our board voted last week to proceed with the 2020 Bratwurst Festival, we did so in am attempt to offer our community the opportunity to return to something enjoyable and provide a sense of normalcy. We thought we would be able to do so safely in an outdoor environment.

Since that decision was shared, we have heard many comments, both positive and negative. The last thing we wanted to do was to further divide our community.

We have continued talks with local elected officials, as well as the Crawford County Health Department and Crawford County EMA.

Through discussions with these officials, and based on feedback that we have received from the public, in conjunction with the news of a possible COVID-19 outbreak within a local school district, we have decided that the prudent decision is to cancel the 2020 Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival.

The safety of our community is important to us.

For those of you were against having the festival, we listened to your comments and took your concerns to heart. For those who were in favor of the festival, we appreciate your support and pledge to come back better than ever

Our committee will begin contacting vendors, sponsors and other affiliates of the festival immediately to individually discuss their options with them.

Our volunteers pour their heart and soul into promoting and presenting the festival each and every year. That group of people will now transition to planning the 2021 Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival.

We hop to see on on August 19, 20 and 21 of 2021. Until then, we wish you all the best in health and safety and we ask that you all be kind to one another.
