Special service Sunday at Pickle Run Festival

GALION — A community church service will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 2 at Heise Park during the Pickle Run Festival. All are welcome. Dress is casual. If the weather is bad, the service will be at Galion Alliance Church. It can be accessed via Hesby Lane and the city schools parking lot.

Former Southview Baptist paster dies

GALION — Erman French, pastor at Southview Baptist Church from 1965-1975 died Tuesday, June 26. He was hospitalized in Canton at the time of his death. The membership at Southview increased considerably under French, said church trustee Dave Smith. The last pastorate for French was in Wooster. He is survived by his wife, three children and their families and a lot of friends in the Galion area. Services will be Saturday, July 1, in Wooster, where he will be laid to rest.

Bible School begins July 10 at First UCC

GALION — Bible School at First United Church of Christ begins July 10. It runs through July 14 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Call 419-468-4380 for information.

Bible school at Galion Community Christian Church

GALION — Community Christian Church, 6195 Ohio 19, will host a “Maker Fun Factory” Vacation Bible School from July 10–14. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. It’s for ages preschool through fifth-grade. For more information, call 419-462-5683.

Food pantry open July 15 at St. Paul UMC

GALION — St. Paul United Methodist Church, 746 Cherry St., Galion, will open its Food pantry July 15 from 9-11 a.m. It is open the third Saturday or each month for Galion residents only. Please bring a photo ID and proof of residency (phone, utility bill etc.)

Vacation Bible School at Ontario UMC

ONTARIO — Ontario United Methodist Church will be holding Vacation Bible School July 16-20. The theme for this year is “Christmas in July” and promises to be filled with many exciting adventures! All children are invited with preferred ages of 4-12. An early supper will be provided at 5:30 with VBS from 6-8 p.m. Early registration is not necessary, but is preferred by email at [email protected] or by calling 419-529-4345.

Good Hope Christian Preschool has openings
