Two transported via helicopter after Tuesday evening crash

MORROW COUNTY — Two people were transported via medical helicopter following a two-vehicle crash at Hunter Road (Township Highway 31) and Ohio 309 on Tuesday night.

The Morrow County post of the Ohio Highway Patrol would only confirm that one person was taken to The Ohio State University Medical Center and one to Riverside Hospital via Lifeflight.

The accident involved two vehicles and responders from Morrow County and Galion, along with the highway patrol provided help after the crash.

No other information was released, except that the call came into 911 about 8 p.m., describing an accident involving two vehicles, with possible injuries.

Area residents reported seeing one helicopter on the pad at Galion Community Hospital and another apparently waiting an opportunity to land.

According to social media posts, traffic was blocked on 309, and traffic was disrupted near Galion Hospital while the helicopters were trying to land.

No other information has been released by the Mount Gilead post. The trooper who handled the accident will not be back in the office until later today, a trooper answering the phone said.
