Betterment Commission still seeking award nominations

The Galion Area Betterment Commission’s annual Service Awards Breakfast is May 13, 2013 at the Galion Free Methodist Church Activity Center, 683 Portland Way North. It begins at 7:30 a.m., in conjunction with the Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual meeting.

The purpose of the awards is to recognize individuals and organizations whose leadership has made a significant impact on the Galion area. Eligible candidates include individuals who reside or work in the Galion area, or organizations located in Galion or the surrounding area.

Betterment is currently seeking nominations for the Special Service Awards:

Citizen of the Year - this person should exhibit a quality of life that promotes the community of Galion and provided exemplary service during the past year.

Organization of the Year - a nonprofit group or agency that provides a unique and/or special service to the Galion community during the past year.

Humanitarian of the Year - for someone who has responded to a hurt or need in a significant and often self-sacrificing manner.

Nominations will be accepted through April 18 until 4 p.m. Forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce office, Galion Public Library, Galion YMCA and Galion Inquirer.

Please include the name of the nominee and the category, reason for the nomination, nominator’s relationship to the nominee and contact information for the nominator (name, mailing address, email address and phone number).

The form may be mailed the the Chamber of Commerce office at 106 Harding Way East

or faxed to 419-462-5487. The nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee of the Betterment Commission.

The Galion Area Betterment Commission encourages intercommunication of all segments of the community as to its needs, striving to obtain coordination and to carry into fruition what is deemed most pertinent to progress in the Galion area.
