Mid-Ohio ESC preschools offering free developmental screenings on May 2 and May 8

April 4, 2014

MANSFIELD — Mid-Ohio ESC Preschool is hosting free developmental screenings at its Mansfield and Shelby locations on Friday, May 2, and in Plymouth on Thursday, May 8. All screenings run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Parents of three, four or five-year-old children can schedule a half-hour appointment by calling the Preschool office at 419-774-5556. The screenings assess cognition, language, physical/fine motor and social/emotional skills in order to determine a child’s readiness for preschool.

Screenings will be held at the following locations.

Mansfield Preschool located at Mid-Ohio ESC, 890 West Fourth Street in Mansfield.

Shelby Preschool located in the Russell Elementary Building, 111 East Whitney Avenue in Shelby.

Plymouth-Shiloh Preschool screenings will be held at St. Joseph’s Church located at 117 Sandusky Street in Plymouth.

“We believe that an early childhood experience is critical in preparing a child for the rigors of school,” explains Preschool Coordinator Christy Roqueplot. “And we encourage any family with a preschool-aged child to participate in this valuable screening opportunity.”

Parents of students with special needs in the areas of speech/language, hearing or social development or motor coordination are encouraged to apply, as well as those with typically-developing children.

Registration packets for fall 2014 at Mid-Ohio ESC’s three preschool sites will be available. Some students may be eligible for free tuition; others pay a minimal monthly tuition fee.
